Ph.D. Scholarship at SNU

Background: Among the total of 1,304 faculty members of IPB University, only 870 possess a doctoral degree. Around 430 faculty members (33%) are still at the master’s degree level. This poses limitations on providing high-quality educational curricula and also imposes constraints on international research achievements and advanced paper publications. With support from KOICA, Seoul National University hosts select master’s level faculty to pursue their Ph.D. at the world-class institution.

Overview: The KOICA-ICAB Project includes a fully funded Ph.D. Program in SNU for 6 IPB Faculty members. The Scholarship will cover the round-trip flight ticket, visa, and stay permit in

Korea, health insurance, tuition, and living allowance according to KOICA policy.

Eligibility

  • Selection Areas: Agriculture and Biosciences (animal science, fisheries and marine science, forestry, agriculture technology, etc.)
  • Status: IPB Lecturers holding Master’s degrees who are active in research.
  • Selection Criteria: English proficiency, research outputs, transcripts, etc.
  • Gender: 50:50 for female and male (recommended)
  • Age: Preferably not over 45

Application Materials

  • Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS Academic Overall Band Score 6.0
  • Research scientific papers (pdf files) : preferably SCl(E) including non-SCI (E)
  • Study plan and CV (personal statement) including published paper list.
  • Academic transcript and graduation certificate (Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree)
  • Recommendation letters from Professors or Supervisors.

  • As of January 2024, the students who will start their program in March 2024 have been provisionally selected.
