What is Mid-Term Training Program?

  1. Mid-term training is a part of a current project: KOICA Capacity Building for the Center for Agriculture and Bioscience of IPB University in Indonesia (ICAB project)
  • PURPOSE: To gain knowledge and experience of how to use laboratory equipment in theory and practice in anticipation of upcoming ARLab renovation by ICAB project
  • WHO: Researchers and professors who will work in the ARLab of IPB University
  • WHERE: The selected trainee will go to Korea and learn from Seoul National University professors and other laboratory experts
  • WHAT YOU WILL DO: You will learn how to use key equipments, how to safely and efficiently manage laboratories, the science behind the equipments, and network with Korean researchers, lab equipment makers, and lab operators.
  • HOW LONG?: 4 months
  • HOW MANY per year?: Twice a year but it may vary according to needs and circumstances
  • TRAINING COST: All travel and living cost will be covered by ICAB project

2024 Program details

  • TRAINING DATES: March 1 – June 30, 2024 (2nd)*
    August 1 – November 30, 2024 (3rd)
  • NOMINATION DATE: February 8, 2024 (for 2nd training)
  • PARTICIPANTS for each training: 4 persons (All Indonesian)
  • FOCUS OF LEARNING: Advanced laboratory facilities, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data industries, and Smart Farms*1st training was successfully completed in August-November 2023

The Trainee Eligibility

Required Recommended but optional
  1. Be nominated by his/her university;
  2. Be in good health both physically and mentally
  3. Have the willingness to show a high level of participation and commitment throughout the course and contribute to the capacity building of his/her Laboratory and Advance Research Laboratory after the completion of the program;
  4. (Original place of employment) IPB University
  5. (Position) A Lecturer, Professor, or Researcher at IPB University
  6. (Language capability) Sufficient proficiency in written and spoken English to actively participate in seminars and write an Action Plan
  1. (Relevant work experience) Required at least a Master’s degree and could use laboratory facility
  2. Working knowledge of computers and PowerPoint software
  3. (Vaccination/Health) Have completed vaccination or do not have risk factors of developing severe COVID-19 or any diseases

  • Learn from Korean researchers what research is being done and how in your research area and cognate fields

  • Learn from producers how to use research equipment
